The Purple Striped Honu Theatre for Kids is a troupe of adult actors performing wonderful theatre for kids ages 2 – 10.

We will present plays and musicals especially written with the keiki in mind.  Some of the plays are participatory, inviting the young audience to be part of the production. We plan on introducing  to young audiences classics like Pinocchio and Rumpelstiltskin, as well as musicals, operas, puppet theatre, storybook reading and Hawaiian themed works.  The productions are one hour or less, depending on the age of the audience.

The Purple Striped Honu Theatre for Kids aims to initiate children to the magic of  theatre.  When the kids come to a production they are treated like theatregoers. They sit with their peers and are given a program.  Their attention and imaginations are fully engaged.  After the production they meet the actors and get autographs.  A new generation of theatre fans is born!

To develop a community children’s theatre organization, an adult company performing at a professional level for the young audience.

To provide age-appropriate, educational stage productions for the young audience that will entertain and inspire.

To introduce the magic and wonder of live theatre to the children of Kaua’i, who will become the next generation of theatre enthusiasts.
